Capture recapture is a method that involves estimating the number of cases in a defined population using multiple sources of information. This study seeks to use capture recapture to estimate the prevalence of HIV in pregnant women from 2013 -2015. Anonymous data on the number of HIV positive pregnant women were obtained from three health facilities in Gembu,Nigeria.Log linear model was used to analyse the capture recapture data.challenging factors in achieving completeness of data coverage was also assessed.The result obtained from this study will help in presenting the capture-recapture technique as one of the more appropriate approach to use in estimating the number of members of population that are difficult to count,capture recapture incorporating tag loss is recommended for use in further study in order to improve the quality of the estimate.
